San Sebastian

One of Europe’s best kept secrets, San Sebastian fits snug into the northern coast of Spain and is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever visited.

Green slopes dotted with pine trees and wild berries surround the outskirts of a city that has only seen moderate growth since the 12th century. From the top of Mt. Igueldo, just ten minutes by public bus you can catch an awe inspiring view of La Concha beach which marks a peaceful friendship between the city and sea.

Also known as Donostia  by the locals, San Sebastian offers lively festivals to mark the passing of each season.  Tapas bars are around every corner in the old city, fresh seafood is abundant and friendly faces will give you a reason to smile. You’re sure to find a new perspective on life in San Sebastian.

I visited during Semana Grande (Big Week). A week long festival consisting of nightly firework displays, daily festivities and live music. Need I say more, but I could definitely go on.
